    Can't believe I'm asking this...snake ID!

    If anyone wants to whup my arse for posting this, I perfectly understand!

    This was posted on FaceBook as a water moccasin. I am (mostly ) positive it is a water snake. The tail is not stumpy enough for a moccasin. This is the only picture posted, and I enlarged it already.

    To be honest with you the underside of that snake looks a lot like it is a cottonmouth.

            Im no expert so my responding is mostly pointless but I will anyway,haha. Looks like some kind of water snake ( non venomous ). I have never seen a water mocassin with a checkered belly like that.
