Is 12 “ long enough for a vertical window? How wide should they be?

I make mine 18HX12W -
I think I make mine smaller than most people do -- 8" wide by 12" tall. It lets in less light, conceals movement better and they are plenty big enough to cover my shooting lanes.Comment

I would say it all depends on the angle of the blind if it’s setting flat on the ground 12 is fine plus you’re chair that your going to use will make a difference as welll of course!! We just cut out window in some of those fiberglass tank blinds made them 23x11 of course that is because we have some 5’8 guys hunting out of them and some 6’6” guys hunting out of them !!!Comment

I think 8x12 will be fine.
But I'll also agree it depends on angle/height of stand.
These are 9x20 and I've since covered part of them (i have 3). The others are 9x14 (4 windows)
