White oaks are spotty. Pinoaks and red oaks loaded. if you find a whiteoak thats dropping, all the deer will be there. Since your married and all....you should just lease that Kennard place to Me, Johnny, and Jooger!

From the house i have a 250 yard right of way with a pop up set up at the end leading into an oak flat/sanctuary briar thicket mess. Right at 4:00 just happened to glance out the window and buck standing at the end eating hand corn. May be a good afternoon, but I have errands to run.

So I have this doe who has a big fawn on her that has busted me three different times well I changed up my set up and guess who is walking in. She better hope she don't give me a shot, cause I hate a blowing doe.

I still have much to learn from your posts. The buck I am after is a 45min after dark type. You can almost put him to a timer. Smart old 8. I only have 7 acres to work with so maybe he get dumb soon.

Well she never saw me and the fawn walked under me. She blew out once she got 30yards.. circled out to about 70 and came back to 25 with no shot, stood around and blew out again. I checked the wind the entire time it was always in my favor. She better tread lightly and watch her back cause I have an arrow with her name wrote all over it. She isn't doing anything but keeping my bucks from coming in.

I'd grab my climber and set up where she's coming from, so while shes focused on busting you at the corn, you bust her. Easier said than done. Them old woman don't play

Iím back in the same set as this morning. Wind is still in my favor. Corn pile is 20 yds away. Any mature doe will get a slick trick. There is a jacked up looking spike that has become a regular. He walked by me Sunday morning at 0615. I new a deer was there just didnít know what. Camera gave me the evidence. It will be a game time decision for him. Saw a pretty decent buck cruising this morning. Didnít get a real good look. Maybe something will slip up tonight

It's hard to beat sitting in a stand deep in the bottom, listening to the woods come alive little by little. Now that I can see the waiting game is on.

That will be next on my agenda now that i should have time to go and pile corn up. I have one good area that I think would be good but havent had a chance to scout it for scrapes and rubs yet, hopefully soon! Thanks for the response!

Once you get pics in either case wait for the right wind and go get him. You may only get the right wind for a handful of days all season. If you blow him out he gone.
Sounds good! Hopefully I will be able to work on that here soon when I get back out there! Thanks for the advice!

Just spent 2 days/2 nights camped out on NE Texas public with my son. Hunting was really good on Weds, Saw 4 does and about 20 good adult size pigs. All from the ground. One good Trophy Boar close to 175lbs. Had a big black mane on him. Does stayed about 80 yards out. Pigs came in to 10 yards. Came to full draw and hit a goat weed with the end of my arrow and spooked the pigs off. Thursday we did not see anything until the drive back home. Saw a bunch of deer feeding on the side of the highway bout 915 tonight. Forgot how fun that is. Kicking back under the star lit night drinking beer by the campfire. Going back again next week during the dark phase.

Just want to see if yall had the same kind of days. Wed AM, cool, a little windy, lots of animal activity, deer moving, birds singing...you get the idea.
Thurs AM, quiet, cool, deathly quiet, no birds singing, nothing but squirrels moving.

Were yalls days the same or was it just mine.

Get off the feeder, even if it's only 50-75 yards away from it, scatter a bag of corn on the ground and face your camera toward the hand corn. You might be surprised what's around and just not hitting your feeder.. good luck

Wednesday morning it was so bright I cast a shadow all the way to my stand and never used my flashlight. And it was dead calm. I mean the kind of calm you can hear a fly fart at 100 yards. I saw one pig just before daylight but never had a clear shot. Other than 1 squirrel around 9 I never saw anything else.

I had to drive to the other side of the lease around 10:30 that morning and saw 7 deer out running around. Seems they like the areas where the timber has recently been thinned versus the deep woods where I hunt.

I'm going back Sunday after church to freshen my hand-corn pile up then go sit in a tripod so I won't sweat too much the rest of the day. Once that front comes through I'll be in a 22' lean-to Monday morning in a creek bottom over looking that corn pile, and I can't wait.

Got off work early about to sneak in and pull some cards and put out a lot of hand corn. Hopefully I can put a doe in the freezer.

I haven't seen too many bucks yet. No shooters. But it's been hot and there's plenty of oaks where I'm at. I'm sure they're staying full on acorns.

I know this is going to open a can of worms like broadheads but in this heat how do you cover your scent or what do you do to stay scent free? I hunt in Bell County in Central TX and Harrison County in NETX. I put cedar limbs in a plastic box with my hunting clothes in Bell County but that will not work in NETX. And even when I wash my clothes in Scent Killer they still have a smell after being in that plastic box for a while.

So far what has worked for me is Ozonics or the Scent Crusher bag. 3 deer and 2 pigs directly down wind of me have fallen when using these items. I'm a believer

What I used to do before this is use some kind of masking scent like Buck Bomb Doe P. I would spray it all over the bottom and around the tree I set up in. I also would use an Autumn/ Earth scent killer and had success with it as well. However, I did get busted more times with that but for the most part it worked well. My cousin used to stick his clothes in corn along with Smoking it which also worked but if he sweated the smell of smoke and must just didn't cooperate well lol. Best thing is to hunt the wind which I still do but I understand sometimes the wind does unpredictable things.

Well I'm still hard after them, but man this weather needs to go on else where. Yesterday was the first day I haven't seen a deer since last Friday, given I did see two at high noon checking cameras. Anyways going to be in a pop up over looking a protein feeder this evening. My GF just showed up so hopefully she can pinch on her first bow kill, it's all about her now. On a side note I will have my bow just in case a swamp donkey decides to show himself. She only has the green light on a doe or a 140" 8 with kickers off both G2's. He showed back up in this spot for the first time since January 14th so I guess he travels when the rut kicks in. I just wanna see that buck/doe fever kick in when they are at 20yards. We will be in the blind in 30 min.

And even when I wash my clothes in Scent Killer they still have a smell after being in that plastic box for a while.
I just invested in some ScentLok camo. I know enough people that swear by it, and Cabelas had it on sale, so I'm giving it a shot. Last 4 times I've had hogs come in, they've scented me right away and hauled butt. I'm willing to try just about anything at this point.

Nothing so far.

My neighbors have arrived. Last time they were here they ruined a hunt. Let's see what happens this time.
