His music was always a part of our pasture parties back in high school (late 70's). He drank and partied HARD back in the day. Not sure if he lightened up any in his later years.
RIP to a really good song writer.

Why can’t I find any news stories about this?

I’m so glad I got to see him about 6-7 years ago in a super intimate venue. One of my favorite shows- JJW is definitely part of the soundtracks of my youth.
