I'm thinking sales sounds fun

Been in trucking since 1994.
Done lots of different things.
Been working at a trailer repair shop for the past 6 years. Done lots of things here.
Anyone interested in teaching me how to be successful at it?

I'm looking for new challenges in life.
FWIW I'll be 48 this year.
I don't always speak or type good. Can be grouchy when prodded.

Main thing about me is that I Love Jesus.

Just breaking into sales is tough what type of sales are you thinking about?

Following as I'm in the same boat. Healthcare cuts have rocked our industry and it's getting time for a change.

Sales looks like fun from the outside looking in.

I just walked out of a sales job. I have always been the top producing salesman any where I worked but I have a hard time working for someone else. I run a business better and more efficiently and need time to do other stuff.
Loving the Lord is a big bonus because if you really want to be good at sales you need to care about the customers needs and listen...but that can get old if you tend to be grumpy. It is really a service industry and I really don't enjoy baby sitting.
I walked out 2 weeks ago, bought a tractor and started a shredding and wood cutting service which allows me to find stuff to buy and resell like old tractors, vehicles etc...I am making custom Mesquite Furniture also which will pay off.
Sales is an up and down cycle that not everyone can handle well.

With the advent of the internet, the consumer is now buying 24-hours a day. I've known people who are constantly on their phones working on deals. Not the life I would want if I valued time to myself.

If you are dead set on this...perhaps selling trucks? You ought to know the subject better than everyone. Take a look at that. Good luck in your search.

Get ahold of Sammy and spend a few days with him selling tractors

Sales can be very lucrative (make good money) but very stressful (ulcers)
I do not speak from first hand experience but observation of a few folks I know that do

What else have you done for work?
What kind of education?
High school? College? Trade school?

I decide to change what I was doing, quit a good paying job I hated and went back to school

Just saying you can do anything you put your mind to

Itís just a different kid of stress. It has more ups and downs than any job I have ever had and the lows are terrible but the highs are amazing. It works for me because Iím a very driven person when it comes to work and I like money.

If you have a base of customers in place relationships and trust are the key. If retail try to understand what the consumer wants.

I don't think there's enough money or makeup to make me "hot" :-)

I have some customers that operate commercial tow trucks, they haul big rigs, buses, RVs, upright overturned trailers and clean ups. Those boys make serious cash and are never bored.
