Well...

Was covered up with deer this morning. Literally had them within a couple yards and all around me. 5 deer in total which is uncommon for our place.

Drew on one, but it moved out of position and had to let down. Had a 2nd chance, but got picked off... and that was that.

Gonna be honest... i wish I could shoot at some hogs.... feel like I need to hit the reset button. After walking around last night, I did some shooting... everything felt and flew fine. Same thing this morning.

Have you tried target practice from your stands?

Yes. I carry a small game arrow with me and fling it a few times when I am setting up the stand. I shoot seated now 90% of the time since August.

Oh and I figured out what happened last week with my errant shot. I noticed the I hunched over this morning. And the angle of my opening has me looking out of my left eye, which gives me a perspective of a wide open shot. But when I draw and switch eyes to my dominate... I can see the limbs in the way. Once drawn, its hard to see them.

Had to remind myself to not slouch forward this morning.

Back to the same popup from the night before. Limited on my south wind options and after getting busted in the other spot this morning, I pretty much have no choice but to hope a different group of deer come by tonight.

All quiet now. Recap of the morning... cool and misty. Had a doe try and pick me out before first throw... and she did.

Later the same doe and 2 yearling came out. One yearling was a nub and he gave me all sorts of opps.

There was some comotion in the woods and finally they scampered off and I could hear chasing, rattle, and grunting just 50 yards into the woods.

Now it is calm again.

Thought I would check in. We are on a family trip to the lease. Left the bow at home... not alot of room for it anyways. My son shot a nice doe this morning so prettt much the weekend is set.

Daughter didnt want to sit tonight so I find myself in a gun blind by myself... which is really weird. Saw a few doe.... almost shot one... but talked myself out of it... which is also weird.

Anyways... still gonna be a while before I can bowhunt again... which is also weird.

And as I type this.... the cows are about to ruin... if that is possible... my hunt.

They did tear up that popup rework!

Scent killer and cover scent. Smoke kills bacteria so it gets rid of body odor. Plus it is a natural cover scent given I hunt in a reasonably populated area.
