Oh and at GD47: Definitely not gonna walk and stalk, I'll be bringing a climber and a good set of binocs so I hopefully don't won't encroach on anyone's spot.

Thank y'all for clearing all that up!
I use a pop up out there. but, I do agree with the other guys not a lot of trees that a climber will work on. best of luck on you're hunt

I’ll be back out there sometime in the next couple weeks. It’ll be my first sit of the season. Hopefully there’s something moving through there by then.

Ha!! Naahhhh. Just have to be there at the right time in the exact right place to ever see an animal. Unless all the newbies from opening weekend trampled through there scaring them all away.

Well morning sit was crap. Busted brush from 10-noon and only jumped two does and a 250-300lb hog. PM recon in a new spot yielded jumping another two does. Too many treestands in that area though. Found a spot allot more off the beaten path, and had two does come in to 30 yards, but they winded me as i was just sitting about 5' off the ground on a tree and two others right behind them turn around. One was a small buck. High hopes for the new spot. Now to get a stand out there or move mine from my other spot.

As far as I know TPWD doesn’t release the does from the pen out there until rifle season starts. Lol!! It really seems that way at times

Definately saw deer in the new spot. They moved early Saturday night, and late Sunday. Not really seeing any rutting action yet.

I think I’m finally allowed to take a couple days off this week from flood disaster work and hoping to be out there Wednesday and Thursday this week. It’ll be my first sit of the season. Hopefully I won’t have to trim too much off the old tree.

Good luck to you guys

Kinda wishing I would have stuck to the plan and taken off today for a nice chilly morning in the tree. I’ll be out there tomorrow and Friday though. Anybody else going those days?

No biggie. I’ll just be happy to be out in the woods finally. I’ve been working nonstop since the storm. See something or not it’ll be relaxing to say the least.

Sat until 2:00 this afternoon. It got pretty warm out there and the wind was swirling as usual. It seems like every time there’s a real wind blowing it swirls down there. Pigs and coyotes running around there

Thanks guys! He’s my first bow buck ever. Feels amazing when everything works out just right. I’ve been watching this guy since last year. He actually changed his pattern this morning and came in directly downwind of me. I didn’t notice until I tried to grab my jacket and saw antlers right under me. I stood to take the shot and my stand creaked which alarmed him but he went back to eating. I ranged him at 9 yds when he finally stepped out past my platform so I started to draw but was so nervous when I realized it was him I couldn’t stop shaking. As I drew back my arrow was shaking and hit the rest. This time he looked directly at me. I figured he’d bolt any second so I took a chance and finished drawing, anchored and took aim, all while he’s staring dead at me. I settled the pin and released. Saw him drop 50 yds away.
