Sonora TX 2017-2018

What a weekend! I brought one of my best buds to the ranch, TBHr RoosterCogburn, to do some work and hunt for his first axis. Well everything unfolded beautifully on his birthday yesterday. Long story short- we spotted this axis from the top of the mountain about 550 yards away with 20 minutes of light left. We bombed down the mountain as quickly and quietly as we could (except Jeremy fell into a cactus). The rest is in the pics

I wish we had a better picture of where we were sitting. Basically a natural rock auditorium at the top of a mountain. Here is part of our view, I spotted the buck feeding in a pasture we burned last fall, and off we went

Anyone lease property on the Vanderstucken Ranch? Hunted one of their places mid 80's to early 90's off of FM 1691 I believe. There was a large radar bubble antenna on corner of our lease. Good times and decent deer then. No hogs at that time.
