TD, I've got the batter tub covered. But you might bring an extra just in case . I got one big one weve been useing the last few years. Two people can work in it at the same time, 24" x 17". As long as we have 1.5 people rolling fish in it, we can keep the cooks busy. And usually get done by noon with everything. Somehow I've been one of the ones to roll fish the last few years. And I don't ever get to shake hands with anybody . Or hugs from the ladies . Hopefully, we can get done a little earlier this year. That means more time to mingle with the other team members and amongst our selves. We've got an assembly line plan. Some of the old hands already know the routine. I'm sure you've heard "Team Fish Head is a well oiled machine".

Don't know why I left that little tub on the list. I've had it going on 5 years now. And have never used it that I recall . Maybe I'll bless somebody else with it so I don't have to store it anymore.

I have a cement mixer we use to batter fish. Works like a champ!! I also have 5-6 folding tables. So the plan is to cook Saturday? Please specify times we need to be there to participate. I have a big buck contest I have to be at Saturday night. Thanks

Whiskers, We will start dropping fish in oil at 9AM. It would be best to get there a little bit before that to drive up and unload gear (8-8:30). Then go park your truck. We will start setting up when equipment hits the ground. Gets kinda tight to unload gear after all the teams are set up. We should be done cooking by noon. Your welcome to load up anytime even if it's before we get done cooking. And you will probably have help doing so no matter the time. As we all help each other unload, cook, clean-up, and load up with in our own. It's a team effort . Lot of teams start breaking down around 2-4ish. And if I stay around late, I try to pitch a hand. Some don't get done cooking till 5ish, the slow pokes . I try to help other teams set up too, if we're waiting around in the AM. There is usually a Team Java too . And some breakfast taco teams of some kind. We'll be right next to Team Mudbug on the south end of the parking lot in the corner of the layout kinda (really about mid parking lot). We don't use the whole parking lot as to keep the teams in closer proximity to encourage conversation among members. It's a very social event . And great to put a face with a name too!

Caught a few more yesterday. Only 4 keeper crappie. And 14 keeper sandies in 3.5 hours. Wish I could have gotten there earlier. There were a lot of little ones in that hole yesterday. But some of the biggest male sandies I've seen in some time close to 2lbs.

Makes about 20-30


Mix:

1 cup Cornmeal

1 Cup Flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

¾ teaspoon salt



Add and Mix:

add 1/4-1/3 cup of water or milk or beer.

1 egg

¾ Cup creamed corn

½ cup diced onions

¼ cup Jalapenos (optional)

Drop into 275° oil by the heaping teaspoon and fry till golden brown.

History has told us that about 75lbs fish fillets total is all we need. Although we did have one year where we ran short . But that was due to demand and an extra large record crowd.

On a conservative side I may have 15 lbs of fillets give a take a few on either side of scale

New members and old, We could prob use a bit more cornmeal, and some self rise-n flour. That mix-n/batter-n tub I've got is pretty big. Might need a bowl or three for dipping fish in beer, milk, water, or what ever, before it goes to the corn/flour mix. Maybe few more aluminum pans for serving up food. And another one or two for transporting fish to cooker. Then from cooker to serving table pans and back. We've got two in the team box. Just need a few more to cover transport and serving. Will be serving fish in two, taters in one, and hush-puppys and such in another.

Can hardly wait to hit the water. Die-n to get out of this house!

Got my prop back late this afternoon. Had dropped it off Monday. Going to test it in the morning. Might as well take a couple rods with me.

One undersized crappie today. And that was it. Water was clear way up in the creek and the very far end of one river. But stained in the lake and the rest.
Prop ran good. Gained a little RPM too. Boat running more level at slower speed. He added a little more cup to my prop. But took off a fraction of pitch. Not sure if my MPH is the same as my batteries were dead on my hand held GPS. 4 hours run time on the motor. 2.5 gallons of gas. Fished from 7:30-3:30. saw some big fish on the graph too. Just nothing biting.
