Default Traditional FSC -- Week 45

Let's celebrate the Houston Astros' World Series Championship! Just need a pen and a blank sheet of paper. Draw a star (Astros' logo) about 4 inches tall and wide, with dots on the right, top, and left points of the star to correspond with position of the bases on a field. "Home" dot is larger as shown in pic.

Shoot 3 arrows (like 3 strikes) from 20 yards (pitchers mound is 60'-6"), 15 yds for kids (little league range), aiming for the "Home" spot. Closest arrow to that spot wins call for next week -- measure nearest edge of shaft to spot.

Tiebreaker: total bases of all three arrows, according to which spots each is nearest to. (1st is 1 base, 2nd is 2 bases, 3rd is 3 bases, Home is 4 bases. Add up arrow values for Total Bases.)

Here's mine. Best was 2-1/16".

Just in case of a tie, the total bases score is: 2 for the top arrow, 3 for the one that hit 3rd, and 4 for the low arrow, for a grand total of 9 Total Bases. The Total Bases aspect will only come into play if no one beats 2-1/16" , and someone ties that distance. Unlikely to matter.

Thanks.

Needed to practice, so kept shooting, and -- about 30 arrows later -- finished on this "quitter" group. Always try to end on a good shot or shots. Last couple rounds, including these, I moved in to 17 yards.

Never did hit the dang "Home" spot.....

At 20 yards I couldn't see the lines or the dot. However I may give it a run before the weekend.

Second shot I must have dropped a little on the follow through. Fouled it back i guess? Third shot was okay though. Not too bad over all. I dressed up pretty warm to practice in heavier clothes for the season.

This is what happens when you are shooting a 20 yard string crawl, BUT you FORGET to crawl.

Didn't even bother to measure. Knew they were way out.

LOL, all I had to do was to move my hand down to the mark.
I just had my head up my butt on the first 3 shots.
It's the price of getting older I guess.

Several good shots this week. Looks like DRT will take it, unless there' s an East Texas spotlight shot before midnight ... CRM? ...

Feel like we should practice out to at least 20 yards, even though that may be kind of the limit we would shoot an animal. Still, what if he's at 22 or 23? Look a couple inches high and get him. That's what.

Rick: A coach friend of mine who's my baseball buddy scores all the games -- mostly minor league games, like Round Rock Express -- and he brings his own custom-made score cards. Has the usual categories to score hits, runs, errors, but added his own column for "BF" -- Brain Farts. This would be when an easy pop up drops between 3 fielders without anyone touching it -- so, hence, no actual error. Maybe that's similar to not crawling the string when you know better. Only way we can beat you! Brain Fart.

I strongly disagree with that statement.

I have developed, and use a dependable aiming system,
and I aim my ***** off. That's all.

Been meaning to mention that all of you trad brethren should check out Rick's forum at barbeearchery forums and join Traditional Archery Friends. There's a weekly first shot challenge, plus great videos on string building, serving and more.
No conflict with anything here, just added opportunities.

Guys I'm out of town until late in the week. If someone else can get one up it would be good.

Okay, DRT, just seeing this.

We'll do like Miss America and pass the call to the First Runner-Up: Briar Friar, would you do the favor, please, of making a call for Week 46? Thanks.

Hoping you have phone alerts when your posts are quoted. You have the opportunity right now to post the call for Week 46. (DRT is unable to, due to being out of town. You were the runner-up of Week 45. Now it's your call.)
