Default First Self Filmed Harvest

Cross posted from my live thread, but figured it deserves it's own thread. I'm really proud of this doe harvest. LeonHogBoy has been generous to share his camp and allow me and my family to help with doe control at the Hogboy Hilton this year. I had my two year old son on stand with me for three sits, and was able to connect this morning. Surprisingly, my boy was pretty well behaved in the stand, and I had him locked in on a movie on my phone when this doe came in. He didn't even know anything had happened til it was all over. https://youtu.be/fawzkFJb9ik

Double lunged her and disconnected heart. I was a little concerned after reviewing footage. But she was quartering away more than it looked. Exited right in the pocket of offside shoulder. Funny thing is she dropped right into into it. Had she been a statue I would've just nicked her belly line.

Filming my hunts is going to teach me a lot about point of aim and impact and how the deer reflex to shots. I didn't consider that my arrow would be low at 7 yards shooting my 20 yard pin. I was aiming for a heart shot but the short distance didn't allow my arrow to rise. She reacted to the shot immediately, and dropped right into the arrow.

Thanks guys I obviously really enjoyed the hunt, but I had a ton of fun putting the video together. Weston loves to watch the video, and I'm glad I'm saving these memories for him to enjoy later in life.

My dad had shot at and missed that same Doe the day before from the same location, so I think she was already a little leery of the setup. Based on my observations I think the deer could see some movement but they weren't really that spooked, I think they were looking straight through us, but that doe definitely saw me draw. I had a net going across the front of the barn, that would completely concealed my son and all of his movement from anything below us , and I think the fact that they could only see half of my Silhouette against a dark background of the barn roof kept them from being too spooky. It's a pretty sweet setup.
