    6.5x55 in a shorter barrel

Anyone shoot one less than 22"?

CZ's are a favorite of mine, and their 557 comes with a 20.5" barrel. For a medium speed cartridge, is that too much speed/energy loss at 400 yds?

I’m a sucker for short barrels so I’m biased. Someone did a study on 6.5CR where they chop up a barrel and inch at a time and I was still okay with the velocity/energy at 16-17”. You’ll have fireballs out the muzzle but whitetail at 400yds would still be dead.

^^ I've read that. Thank you for posting.

I don't reload, and factory 6.5x55 seems to run a little slower than the 6.5 CM. Just wondering if anyone has one and what they're findings are.

The CZ 557 bolt-action rifle is a push-feed, economical sporter that doesn't cut corners in quality or accuracy
