Places to hunt near Ingleside TX

I am new to bow hunting, and have been shooting at targets for about eight months now. Aside from a squirrel that passed through the back yard, I haven't gotten anything yet. Does any one know of public places to hunt near Ingleside TX or Corpus Christi for hogs? I can't seem to find any where that isn't four or more hours away.

    Thanks.

I was down that way about a month ago and a local told me that you can bow hunt hogs on saint joe island. I dont know if this is legal or not. If anyone knows for sure let me know. He said that there are alot of hogs on the island.

I have lived here my whole life and unless something has changed the island is private and operated by the Saint Jose Cattle Company. It is not open to public hunting but you can contact Parks and Wildlife to make sure.

                      Stay off St. Jose island

I wouldn't step foot on St. Jose. The Bass family doesn't take too well to trespassing. If you're on that Island your feet better be wet with saltwater, and you're being watched from several angles (ground, and sky). Jason Slocum

That vol from AP is probably Gary Day. He also knows the refuge. I will be in GP today at 7pm for my boys baseball game so give me a call. I will be coming to the fire station in AP pretty soon to set up some training with them. I will give you a call on my way to GP.
