That has been my experience as well with Caddo pottery but their are a few people that have unearthed some AWESOME hole pieces of bowls, plates, cups and what not. Crazy.

Cool! I've never had much luck finding points. Pieces is best I can do.

Looks like you got yourself a great East Texas site right there. Looking forward to seeing the progress of this one. If you got any pics of the artifacts, I sure would love to see them.

What he said. In East Tx the pottery is almost always fragmented. Tree roots grow through it and break it. Pottery is relatively new compared to most of what we find. We usually dont even keep broken pottery unless it has neat designs on it.

Great stuff Johnny! I have some granite bowls from South Tx.

On our camp in Rusk County you can find bucket loads of busted up pottery but rarely find any flint. What flint I have found was made from petrified wood. I am amazed at what arrowheads you find in east texas.

Do you do this for a living, or money? seems like tons of work and money for fun. I had no clue people actually went to that much trouble to get artifacts

Wow looks like you are setting up to dig for gold!

I see the makings of a new reality TV show....Artifact Hunters.

What made you try in that particular spot? Were there certain things you were looking for?
                              Good luck!
