    Hang deer tonight?

Kid just killed a deer at the house. He called and asked if he can hang it over night field dressed. We don't have a light by cleaning area. It is suppose to be mid 50's by midnight. Safe or not.

          I personally don't hang a deer unless it's 40 or colder.

I wasn't sure either until a few weekends ago when at a high fence ranch. They gutted and hung my doe and another buck over night at 55 degrees. Said they have been doing it For years like that.

I get off at midnight. Thinking of having him gut and hang and then Ill put about 50 pounds in chest cavity when I get home and he can deal with it in the morning.

Mid 50's isn't cold enough. Quarter it up this evening.

I would quarter and ice. I don't hang deer overnight unless it gets below 40-45 deg.

Agree! Needs to be below 45 to hang.

Me neither although, a guy on my lease shot a doe yesterday morning, field dressed it and hung it up. He pulled out of the ranch today around noon with it on his receiver hitch basket headed for George Town [emoji15][emoji23][emoji23]
