New grips for my 1911

My wonderful wife got me a set of grips for my 1911. They're made from mesquite and have no varnish or anything on them. Should I varnish them, or maybe some marine grade polyurethane?

Thanks, I love them. I mounted them on the pistol last night, but neglected to take a picture. It looks awesome.

Looks good. I'd put a coat of polyurethane on them to seal them.

A little spar polyurethane spray, a couple of days to dry, and viola, the finished product.
