My very first game taken with a bow. *picture*

Little ding bat has been eating my strawberries. Saw him outside and grabbed the bow as I"m out of .22 shells. I aimed for his eye as it was the biggest non-brown thing I could see on him. After he dropped I took 19 paces to get to where he lay. I shouldn't be this happy about a squirrel but I am, I really really am. My three year old daughter helped me clean him and put him in the freezer. If I can get a couple more her and I will have them for breakfast one weekend. If I can figure out how to tan/cure his tail it's going on my bowstring.

Taking a squirrel with a trad bow is an accomplishment. Those little buggers are ninjas!

Sweet. Get some Boraxo and rub it in the hide side.

Light bow and I allowed myself one shot, no more. Thanks!

Flesh hide and good salting. Use kosher salt. Borax will preserve hide but will not tan hide, so if it gets wet it will go bad. Pick up some trappers hide tan. Real easy to do, just paint it on and. Break hide as it is drying.

Squirrel was my fist kill too.

Used tanned squirrel on this mask with duck skin.

                            ^ Scary.
I was going to ask about the shoulder too, but then I read your answer. Big congats on the tree rat. Of the few things I have taken that hasn't happened yet.
