I used the red film cause I used a red lense cover on my bow light and it didn't bother them with either one.

I did the same thing over the summer, it lit up a good area when a raccoon set it off, drew back on it and it was like looking through my peep during the day. I used a green film.

Costco finally has these light back in stock for 29.00

Bought one, headed over to Hobby Lobby...red film was 11 cents per sheet, bought 10 sheets. One sheet will make four covers. Going with four, we'll see how it works. Kinda excited as my hogs have now gone nocturnal on me. Great thread by the way...just gotta figure out how to keep the **** squirrels from chewing up the wires.

I hunted under these this weekend at Bug Scuffle:
http://www.nativeoutdoors.com/nite-h...l#.U2hXw3lOWM8

They come on dim at dark and brighten up under motion.

Look at my link before you make one. These come in dimly at dark and stay on all night. When they sense movement, they brighten up and stay bright as long as something periodically moves. They're less expensive than building your own. I plan to order several for our place in East Texas.

Wildgame Innovations makes a mountable motion activiated light. Comes with red, green, blue, and clear lenses. Has lots of options with settings and is extremely easy to install on a feeder. Runs on a 6v feeder battery and costs less than $35....

Here's my version. Took a 1x8" and mounted the panel on top and light to where I could move it a little. I'm surprised at how bright it runs. I'm just going to strap mine to the tree.

The wilgame innovations has 3 light brightness settings. It can be set to come on by motion (then stay on for 2,4 hrs), it can be set to come on at dusk (on for 2 ,4), or manually on until u turn off. Has 3 adjustable arms so lighht can be pointed in diff directions.....deer & hogs usually dont even flinch if blue or green lenses are on. Havent tried the red lenses yet

Not enough hogs on the place to justify that light, but that light is nice.

I ran the 12V solar panel that came with the LED light (yes, it is 12V solar cell, but the internal battery is 6V) to a small SLA battery and then to the light. I put a diode inline with the (+) so the batterey wouldn't feed power to the solar cell and drain the battery it when there wasn't sun. The constant 12V feed into the light makes it brighter.

I put a camera on the same 4X4 and ran a 6V solar cell to a 6V battery in the box and ran that to a plug to the external power feed of the light.

I put a red filter on the light. A buddy has the same light on the same lease and took the filter off and the hogs still came and didn't run off when the plain white came on.

I put the batteries in a $12 conduit box I bought form Home Depot and ran the 3/8" flex conduit to everything. I sealed everything up with silcone and reinforce the attachment points the the solar cell, LED light and the camera with silicone. Hopelully it holds. I also used some of the little hold down for the flex conduit to keep it all inplace. The camera and the light should work for a while without having to do anything to them.

Okay this looks like it should last a long time.

checked my light this morning and it works. Downside is the motion sensor only seems to work on one side. I have pictures of deer and hog under feeder, but the light is not on.

When the light was on it did not seem to bother them.
