Yall think this deer can make it? (broken shoulder)

Broke shoulder bone sticking out. My guess is a car hit her. She's been eating every day though I don't have a long history on the camera with her.

Trying to decide if I should just put her down. That shoulder will never heal right likely it'll get infected and be a slow painful death.

Hard to see clearly on the phone but I don’t believe that’s a “she”.
And the deer said it would like to take its chances.

I would just let nature take its course.

For several reasons. But that’s me.

that's what i'd like to do, but feels wrong to let the animal suffer.

If she is eating I think she will make it.

If the coyotes havnt caught her yet then I would say her chances are pretty good. But I don't see how infection cant set it, I would watch her for another week then make a decision.

                  Surprised coyotes haven’t killed him
I would feed him extra and let him have a chance
                  He’s eating and moving.

yeah that's what i'm worried about. Not sure if the wound can heal around an exposed bone.

Why i'm considering just popping her.

There are plenty of coyotes though my guess is she's just been lucky so far.

I had one like that that lived for 3 years before finally disappearing. I have few coyotes though.......

If your on MLD land then I'd say go for it. Otherwise, my word of advice would be don't post that up your going to do something illegal here. Ethics and legality are often a blurred line that should be handled quiet and privately, not in front of everyone on the internet and the screen police. Otherwise nature takes its course, unfortunately such is life.

It always amazes me how much damage a wild thing can sustain and keep going. That being said, that deer looks extremely thin to me, and s/he appears to have unloaded that injured front foot (in other words, non-weight bearing on the injured leg). If it were me I'd contact the game warden and ask for permission to put it down humanely to end its suffering.

                          Good luck,

                          Dave
