Better hunting, more OTC tag options less people, deeper wilderness

But it's a 26 hr drive from DFW. We drove straight through last year...

Now think about that drive after 7 days on the mountain.

I'm sampling food. I decided to deviate on my last trip last year and I went with heathers choice. outside the salmon and buckwheat nothing else was edible.

Im struggling with food more than anything right now. Mainly because we will be truck camping so I can actually bring real food. I am thinking of pre making breakfast burritos and vacuum sealing them and freezing them. I can just heat them up in some boiling water for breakfast.

Lunch will be mostly nut butters, peperoni sticks, quest bars and trail mix

Dinner Im thinking just cans of soup for 3 nights.
then im struggling with the other nights lol

JTeLarkin08 what can you tell me about the inreach. I used Delorme Earthmate last year and it worked awesome. Even without cell signal.

Which model do you have? Do you use the GPS on the inreach or on your phone and or how do you use it with your phone?

                      yellow one, maybe SE?

Bluetooth to your phone. Just my phone. Map wise it's good, but doesn't have as good of layers as the onX app. Not that you actually need all of them.

I use it for texting and tracking. As far as GPS it's mainly a back up for me. I use my onX chached maps more.

I've also put it in my sun roof on tracking mode at hotels in case my truck gets stolen.

Oh weather forecast feature is nice slso

I do 24 hours straight to montana yearly for mule deer. So the drive isn't the issue.

I flew over the sawtooth mountains on my approach to Pocatello Idaho yesterday. Talk about gorgeous country.

Why if your truck camping? Isn't half the fun in this scenario good, camping and enjoy the mountain.Just curious?

Very few places I could live out side of Texas, Hunting, people and politically Idaho fits. Now come Nov I'm southbound !!! OTC tag options make it a no brainer

Another Cool thing about Idaho is high country is 10k.. Backcountry isn't near as taxing as CO.

Oh you can hunt wolves 8 months a year also

Honestly because I will most likely be covering 6-10 miles a day and will be worn out when I get back to camp at night. Won't be eating any lunch in camp because we will be hunting all day. I will take stuff for a few good meals but a lot of it will be easy stuff. That said it will still be WAY better than mountain house.
