Dang that is a big one, I wouldn't be messing with it with that head still on. I had one still try to bit me with his head off Friday.

Why on earth would you kill that beautiful snake..................

I keep looking for them every time I go to the lease but have been out of luck the last two years or so.

Correct, pit vipers do give live birth, from eggs. She has a sack of egg yokes that each one grows and develops in until birth.

"Rattlesnakes are ovoviviparous, which means that they produce eggs but the eggs hatch in the mothers body, and therefore result in live birth of the young."

Here's a picture of rattle snake eggs, 1st weekend of spring turkey season. Normally they give birth end of summer, August.

                  Caught this one last July.
                  Had 21 babies in Sept.
I've been calling the eggs placenta.

They were at a neighbor's house.
Think one of them tried to bite him and he got confused as to which one it was, so he got even with it and knocked all of em in the head.

Man I'd love to have that box of Eastern Diamondbacks. That's a shame they got killed. What a waste of life.

They're already endangered in most of the places they live. People putting gasoline in gopher tortoise holes to catch them has affected both species negatively.
