2019-2020 Official Dallas Mavericks season thread...been awhile huh?

It’s a little late but still early in what appears to be a break out of the cellar season for the little Mavs so I thought they warranted their own thread.

I have a good feeling about this year so let’s give it up for the 20 year old Slovenian phenom Luka Doncic led team from north Texas. [emoji122][emoji122]

I figure now is as good a time as any to put the Western Conference SW Division leading Dallas Mavericks on the map. Coming off a huge, impressive Luka-less win on Monday night vs the surging Milwaukee Bucks who were riding an 18 game win streak!! Seth Curry, Kristaps Porzingis, Tim Hardaway Jr and cast appear to be more than serviceable while Luka’s ankle injury is on the mend.

Luka has his own thread (deservingly so) but let’s use this one from now on to see how this season progresses. [emoji106]

    Go MAVS!!!

Mavs in Philly tonight. Need to start another win streak. Hardaway Jr with 19pts in the first qtr. Seems we play better on the road anyway.

      GO MAVERICKS!

Mavs easily beat 76ers and hand Philly only their 2nd home loss of the year. Impressive road win. 11-2 on the road.
Porzingis was an absolute stud tonight. 22pts and 18 boards.

Mavs about to take on the Spurs at home. Luka back in the lineup for the first time since ankle injury. Hopefully he knocks the rust off and the little Mavs can once again make this a viable in state rivalry game.

A little too close for comfort at the end but the Mavs hold off a late rally by the Spurs. 102-98 Mavs win.

Luka inks 7 figure $ deal with Nike. Not a fan of Nike....especially after they endorsed Colin Kaepernick That being said, not a bad day for the 20 year old Slovenian.

Twenty-year-old Dallas Mavericks player Luka Doncic, who is originally from Slovenia, grew up admiring Michael Jordan -- as many do. Now, he has officially signed an endorsement deal with the shoe brand that bears MJ’s name, Nike announced Thursday.

A person familiar with Doncic’s agreement with Nike, who asked to remain anonymous because the details are private, said it’s a five-year, seven-figure deal to endorse the company’s Air Jordan line. There were reports the two were close to a deal last week but it was not officially announced until Thursday.

The 2018-19 NBA rookie of the year has had an accelerated basketball career, having signed to one of Europe’s premier clubs when he was 13 years old, according to a blog post on air.jordan. By 16, Doncic started playing in Spain where he garnered the nickname “Wonder Boy.”

He went on to help Slovenia win its first FIBA Intercontinental Cup championship and was also the EuroLeague’s MVP in 2018, according to the blog post. After his European career, he was the third overall pick in the NBA draft.

“Growing up in Slovenia, and all over Europe, everyone knows about Air Jordans because of the impact Michael Jordan has had all over the world,” Doncic said in the blog post. “It’s a brand with an amazing history. The more I learned about their plans and how much they believe in me, it became an easy decision.”

Doncic is currently in his second NBA season and has already tallied more 30-point triple doubles than any player under 21 years old in history, a Nike press release said.

“We’re very pleased to welcome Luka to the Jordan Brand,” Craig Williams, president of the Jordan Brand, said. “He is an undeniable talent, and he’s already demonstrated a fearlessness in the clutch that we prize in the Jordan Brand family.”

Other additions to the Jordan roster this year include NBA players Jayson Tatum, Rui Hachimura, and Zion Williamson, and WNBA players Asia Durr and Kia Nurse.

“We are excited to welcome [Doncic] to the Jordan Brand family,” Michael Jordan said in the release. “He rounds out a roster of incredible new talent united to represent Jordan Brand for the next generation.”

CNBC reached out to Nike for specifics but the company declined to share details beyond what can be found in Thursday’s release and blog post.

Well it’s raining 3s in the bay area tonight. 41-41 at end of 1st Qtr. It appears Golden State has figured a few things out recently and are riding a 4 game win streak vs some solid teams.

58-57 Warriors with 5 mins left in 2nd. Let’s go Mavs!!

There’s a whole bunch of confidence on this Mavs team right now. A franchise record 24 threes made by the Mavs tonight so far! They balloon the lead to 30 pts with 7 mins left in the game. This team has some shooters......A BUNCH OF THEM!

Mavs in LA about to take on LeBron and the Lakers on ESPN. All aboard!!

Luka took over in the 4th at home to down Brooklyn tonight. Good W since Mavs were short-handed with Perzinga and Hardaway, Jr out.
