30-06 is just a work horse, it will get there when it gets there

I think that if I wanted a gun that big, I would probably choose the 06 over the 270.

.30-06 bc I am weird and like the numbers better than .270.

Not weird, this is why a lot of calibers fail in the market.

Currently own a .243, 6.5 CM and a .308.

Looking at getting a .270 or a .30-06, which would you go with and why?

30-06 to answer your question, because you can kill anything in NA with it. The 270 is to light for brown bear and border line on moose.

A better choice would be 300 wsm or 300 wm.

Ummm, pretty sure a .300 mag and a .30-06 are the same size bullet and come in the same weight. The mag case is bigger and holds more powder but the bullets are the exact same.

Yes, I was talking about the 30-06 having heavier options than the 270. But yes I prefer the 300 win mag cause of being able to shoot heavy 30 caliber bullets with better velocity than the 06, without much of an increase in recoil.
