55 gr. .243 on a hog?

Do you think a 55 gr. 243 in the behind-the-ear area would put down a hog? Close range, under 50 yds. Probably looking at 3400+ fps.

Shot a sow behind the shoulder with 55gr sp in 223 and didn’t go far. 243 shouldn’t be a problem especially behind the ear.

Absolutely. That combination beats the 22-250 to the finish line. I bought a .243 specifically for 55-95 grain bullets. Varmints or deer.

I shot one at about 150 yards with a 55 grain out of a 243. Ear holed it and it didn’t even twitch. Literally dead before it hit the ground

I love shooting pigs with my .243 never had any take another step.

Every time. I put them down with h/l shots as well. Use a soft point bullet and you'll usually have a blood trail.
