My dad said he got a decent buck. I haven’t seen anything and my corn from last night is still out.

Neighbors sound like they’re in a war and have been shooting not stop all morning

Edit: got a young 6pt in feeding right now so at least I’ve seen something and now know that my heater doesn’t bother them

I’ve heard one shot. Still nothing. Son is hunting a feeder and I’m hunting hand corn. It wasn’t touched.

I had a 3.5 year old 8. He sorta chased a doe, basically off the corn and went back to eating.

Itís weird, I havenít seen anything since early and havenít heard any shots.

I don’t think the shots i heard were at deer it was 8-10 shot volleys and multiple times so either they’re just out shooting or they got into some pigs

I will definitely second all the green factoring in. My first few sits were slow last week in Crowell too, but as the weather got colder and a front blew in they were all over the corn. I also thought my feeder not working for a while before I got down there played a big role in not having much hit my corn, but I think you foard county boys should really start seeing some early rut action and see lots of deer movement. My father-in-law (soon to be) just went up this morning. If he reports anything specific to me I will let yíall know!

Tef, where about in foard are you?

Baylor county, young bucks pushing does, but they are just not ready and want nothing to do with the bucks. Hocks still lightly colored. Seen a couple of big boys off in the distance feeding on all that rain induced green. It's still looking like thanksgiving before it blows up. Never know though.

That would make sense with as much shooting as I heard. I could hear geese but our small pond that always holds ducks was empty when I checked it. I forgot it was the beginning of duck season

Lots of young ones chasing this weekend. Not many mature deer sightings. We have not seen very many doe either in person or on cameras.
I have been wanting to keep a deer count for a few years now and never have. I know that we will see the same deer several times. But with all the deer its hard to remember all of them so I am going to count them all. I stayed the night to hunt this morning but it was raining pretty good, 25 mph north wind and 37 degrees so I just came home and went to work.
So far: Hunts 15
Different stands 9
Total Deer 102
Bucks 76
Doe 26
Hogs 15
Javelina's 18

My son got this buck last weekend in Baylor County. Nice tall 10 with a pretty cool curly cue point coming off one of the bases. Mid 150's rough score. We have been seeing pretty good rut activity the last couple of weeks.

Anyone seeing signs of rutting in or near Jack County? Some guys saw some little bucks chasing opening weekend of rifle. The past two weekends we havenít seen any. One guy reported he saw a group of 3 bucks running together. 10 point that he shot, 8 point and 4 point.

Out of 8 guys on our lease, 6 guys have shot a buck.

I can’t believe I just found this thread, this past sunday and Monday had the deer moving like crazy. I shot a nice 10 up in Archer Monday evening, sat all day except for an hr to grab food and saw deer all day even in that wind. Should be good for the next couple of weeks rut wise, young bucks we’re cruising and all busted up. I bet it’s about to break wide open any day now. I’ve got a place north of Jacksboro now to hunt so I’ll be setting that up as soon as possible.

Headed out to Jacksboro to scout the land some more and throw up a couple of cameras. I’ve got a 278” moultrie Feeder to hang until I can get a permanent feeder after the trip to CO this week. Good luck to everyone!

Deer put on a show last night SW of Vernon. Bucks chasing does all over the place. No bucks big enough or old enough to shoot at. But. it was a show. Good times.

Just checking TC pictures and found this old boy. My son and i got a glimpse of him two weekends ago. I didn't see him this weekend. I'll be hunting this guy next weekend. Big and heavy. Curious as to what he weighs.

Looks like the action is picking up in the area. Some awesome deer being taken and pictures of stories to come.

We saw lots of movement the past 4 days. No big deer sightings but a few 135-140 deer showed up. Has anyone noticed a lack of doe this year?

One of our munchkins got it done on this ole 8 point. We were all excited to say the least for the wee one.

We need to find the buck that made this rub for sure!

We finally got all the oats planted Saturday so in two weeks when the pastures die out from the heavy frost and freezes it might get really good.

Got a picture of a 180-90 inch deer that was taken about 4 miles from us. Don't know the guys but it was a giant.

Weird Saturday in Throckmorton. Had an unidentifiable buck come in before daylight and only saw a few out-of-range pigs until I came down around 10:00. Got back out about 2:00 and saw a hog and 5 untended does with about 30 minutes of daylight left.

Baylor and knox seeing a lot more bucks, heck can see more thanks to the multiple freezes. They are chasing, big boys have shown themselves finally, hopefully we start getting them on the ground.

I took my son out Friday for a weekend hunt, we came home today, it was bad for us, saw two mature bucks but could not get him on either, we have owned this ranch for almost 20 years, worst I have ever seen it for hunting.
