I agree, and I am glad I have the opportunity to watch the majority of my deer grow up and know their age without question. Knee wear is typically seen at 6+ on our place, and this is a knee from a known 6 year old cull that was killed a few weeks ago....

Our older deer have had bad knee calluses as well

I'm certainly no expert. Without looking at the teeth its just tough to age these older deer for me once they are fully mature. I would have said he was 6+ in 2018.

The fact that last year and this year he had basically the same identical rack make me want to say he is post mature and on his way down.

He really doesn't look that old. Maybe 5-6 yr old range.

The 2nd deer, he looks much older.

I don't think he's that old. He's walking high up on his hooves, no calluses, hocks are not stained/scalded, no ear wrinkles, his fur is smooth and slick with almost no scares. 3/4 or 4/5.....
