    carport roof pitch question

Time to start a small " long time put off" project. Im building a 21 x 18 carport over our driveway. I figure the angle of the roof should follow the driveway, correct ? Our drive is a slight slope as seen in the pics, figure I'd just anchor bolt all four posts (9') and frame it...yes-no?

The more pitch the better to keep from backing up into garage, but I always shoot for a minimum of 1" of drop for every 12" of run on a tin roof if there is room(composition roofs require more). Too flat will always cause problems especially with leaf build up ect. Maybe you could shorten the two front columns just a couple inches since there is a slope to the concrete.

If you cut 5 degrees off your columns (assuming they are cut square to begin) with a 10" difference in column height, that will give you enough pitch for water run off, etc. It will give you a nice tight fit for for a weld.

Edit: you could probably get away with 8 inches difference on columns with driveway slope.
