Man some big ones hit the ground yesterday evening! It was a slow hunt for me, just does and a nubbin. First hunt I didn't see any bucks.

Back to work for a few days then back at it Thursday

Congrats on the great kills guy!

It was good hunting in Anderson County this weekend. Had a mature buck chasing a doe on Thursday evening and then a 2.5 8pt in a hard chase on a doe Sunday morning. My brother had some good chase action going on in Montgomery County Saturday am too.

9 does yesterday in the field and two young bucks all feeding still no chasing from my view. Sure felt like a big boy was gonna come out there for a minute.

Saw more does grouped up than ever before this weekend. Some young 1.5-2.5 yr olds bucks hanging with them. Saw 1 buck at first light nose to ground and would not stop. Anderson County.

Had this big boy come in at dusk. Scored 120 from my limited experience. Hardin County, Saturday afternoon. .270 to the neck and he didnít budge.

He was my target buck and my camera was down from 10/21 til Saturday, so I didnít have any patterns for two weeks. Oh well, it all worked out and I couldnít be happier.

Before he showed I watched a young 6 chase around a doe for about 30 minutes. Had a doe and a fawn come in before that. Seems like the rut is fast approaching.

They are chasing good in the last week.

Just took pics of this buck in Bullard off 69 near 344. Probably a 4 maybe 5 yr old with tons of potential. If his right side was like his left he was upper 130s maybe 140. Great mass carried all the way through his main beams.

Some nice bucks guys!

No buck for me this go around, but got a nice cat Saturday and finally eliminated an old radar doe thatís ruined several bow hunts for me.

She had a gunshot through her front leg, missing a toe on her back hoof, nearly no teeth and skin and bones.

Got a Yote Sunday morning. 2nd one ever with a bow. It fell in the creek (which was flowing pretty good after a big rain) after I shot and floated away. Thought Iíd never see it again but luckily it got caught on a log about 75 yards down stream.

lol...95% of my bowhunting is on my Montgomey County bow leases where I spend most of my time. Madison County is for kicking back, enjoying a good campfire and reaching out and touching something.

My dad saw two shooters cruising this evening. He actually missed one of them so he’s going to find a gun range in the morning and see if there’s a problem. If it’s off at all then he had to have bumped it sometime in the last week. It was shooting great 2 months ago when I last cased it.

Well, other than behind my house, looks like my East Texas deer hunting is shot (pun intended) for another year!! Dang Trinity has got most of my sets either under water or cut off by high water... Gettin' pretty old!! Heck, even my new place down South (Webb County) has had too much rain... Finally gave up on one of my favorite sets there and waded in and took my feeder down in mid-thigh deep water and moved it to higher ground!!

Wish it wasn't going to be so wet this weekend but I will take the cooler temps!

I'll be back at it tomorrow morning thru Friday. Then pickup my wife/daughter Friday night to try to get my wife on her first deer this weekend.

I recommend getting one of those laser boresights that's fits in your rifles chamber That way after you sight the gun in put it in and look where the dot is and then from then on you can pop it in any time and check that its stiil zeroed quick and easy

Well my dad went to the range today and checked his gun. While it needed some minor tweaking it appears the miss was on him. He doesn't miss much but if there's any bright spot here it's that he shot at the smaller of the two bucks so the big guy is still running around and waiting for him.

Saw three bucks yesterday. Two youngsters and a big bodied buck. Looked to be in the 8-10 pt range. He had his nose to the ground like a blood hound when he passed in front of me at about 40 yds. It was about 6:15 am and I could not tell for sure if he was at least 4.5 yo.
15 min later he may have been a dead deer. Hunting oaks this morning. I have already had four does feeding around me at less than thirty yards.
Hoping they drag a wall hanger out.
