    Barrel refinishing

So I acquired a nice Rem 700LR in 7RM from a tbhr. Smooth transaction it was and he spared no details about the gun. The previous owner (before tbhr) had painted the barreled action with a black something or other.. doesn't have the consistency of spray paint. All in all, it looks like crap. I'm wanting to get the barreled action refinished and cerakoted. Would it be advised to sandblast it or glassblast it first, then cerakote? Or just sandpaper? I know it's going to be hard to answer without seeing it, but whatever the crap is, it's layered kn so thick, the manufacturers stamps can barely be read..

    Thanks in advance!

Whomever you get to do the refinishing should know and do what needs to be done. If doing yourself, glass bead unless pitting is visible then use sand.
