What is yalls opinion about infrared or flash???

I've got a Stealth Cam with IR and think it's much better than a flash going off. There'd be no suprise with the IR but the flash will most probably spook anything.
My SC does fairly well but requires fresh batteries 1x/mth if I have it set to two pics with a minute wait between shots. It has problems sometimes with 'whiteouts' when transitional between night/IR and daytime mode.
Would I buy another StealthCam? No. From what I've read from others, there are better options out there.
