Iíd just stick to what your drinking. Whiskey and cola taste the same to spend more money on.

I prefer Evan Williams if mixing honesty

Not condemning anyone but trying to understand.

Whenever you place any sort of mixer in your drink, how can you really taste your whiskey ? I simply canít get a good read on the whiskey 🥃 if for instance I make the old standby Jack and Coke.

But if I use one of those oversized round ice balls in a whiskey 🥃 glass , the whiskey gets cold and the ice doesnít seem to melt so fast, and I can really taste all or as much of the after notes of the drink.

Am I just not good enough to separate the mixer from the whiskey ? Kinda what I was thinking because Iím not much of a creative person.

Found a bottle of blantons in new Mexico this weekend while going fishing. Was really good! Also had some eagle rare and 4 roses single barrel. I think for the money I like the eagle rare.

My wife didn't even know she bought me a good bottle. Was our 4 year anniversary and since flowers are the "traditional" gift for that according to her, she went to the store and grabbed me a bottle of 4 Roses Small Batch... very happy with her choice for a woman who bought it just because the name fit what she was looking for!

You're clearly adding too much 'mixer' to your drink.

I like most of my bourbons with a little ice, usually cause its hotter than heck outside but also it mellows a tad.. try experimenting with a few regular ice cubes then reduce it to just 2 or 3 or just 1 and see how you like it..

I only do mixing at the deer lease or tailgating type events so i dont get fischnikkered too quick

Picked up a few bottles after work. Digging the Boone County 12 lately, but love the Very Old Barton Bottled In Bond, especially for the price of $14.99. Also picked up a bottle of Caribou Crossing Canadian whiskey, which Iíve never seen on the shelf before and only had in bars. Not bourbon , but itís pretty good too.

Some cheaper stuff I like some crushed ice with but good stuff, no way man.

I drink Makers Mark with coke when I just want a beverage. Its a good combo and yes I can tell a difference in coke between whiskys, crap still tastes like crap even with coke.

Neat, all day though on anything else.

I felt the same way. Tried it at a bar recently and was disappointed. Not bad, but not deserving of the price point. The juice inside doesn't live up to the fancy bottle.
