Well sad news in the house tonight. Y'all remember Geno. The senior pro who help us at the first get together. We have been helping them every month with his cancer treatment. Well he came into day for his check up. And it's not good. Like weeks till he won't suffer anymore. It's a sad deal. He helped a lot of folks in the archery world. And pioneered the Asa archery. And helped establish the Texas Asa.

I know, I know. No, I haven't bought the jig or fletchings or got them fletched. I've been working on my boat in preparation for a blast and cast in June ( which I just found out yesterday, that my boss is taking off. So I won't be able to attend) so maybe now I'll have some time to get the materials and Fletch them. ( I also thought about taking them to X10 and letting Lynda do it)

As for adding me to your long list, don't.
I know how that stresses you. As I've said before, if or when it's time to build one, I'd like to help.
You're a better friend to me, than I to you. I'm working on changing that.

I did pick up some more ML supplies. ( but I need to get some more sabot's) I have been studying some maps and thinking about some new strategies for our upcoming season.

As for shooting a tourney, I'm not there yet......yet.

Daniel, that's bad news all around. I'm sorry to hear that. Seems like every year someone's family is struck with the cancer bug. I'll continue to pray for all involved.

That is very bad news Daniel, I hate to hear that. Yes, I agree Gene is a very good guy that is very generous with his knowledge. I really appreciate all the pointers that he gave me, it really helped my shooting.

I will continue to send prayers up!

Well got off the water quick. Wind picked up and almost sunk us. Water splashing in like crazy. Anchor rope snapped and boat turned sideways and I thought that was it. Barely made it in. So in 1.5 hrs we caught 26, threw back 4, so bringing home 22 NICE ones.

Almost got a tom in the grasslands and was on top of them this past weekend so I'm going to get the job done. I want that bird but I might go with a buddy out to some private land his friend owns so we will see.

I've been home the last 3 days with a sick baby so I'm getting yard work done and staying busy with housework to get my mind off ****. It's hardest in the evening when kids go to bed.

One thing to keep in mind is that a trad shoot is not a tournament. It is a gathering and an excuse to go shoot. You don't even have to turn in your score card. I went and shot 3D within about a week of getting my first recurve in the mail simply because I was invited and reassured that it was no big deal. I won't lie, I was anxious, but after all was said and done, the anxiety was indeed unfounded.

Trad is fun. Sure, there are those in any crowd that take it a little too seriously at times, but generally speaking that is not the case. Trad 3D shoots are like playing in a charity golf event. You pick the group you are going to play with, and what determines how much fun you have is that group... not anybody else.

Sounds like our shoots also some are serous biome shoot for fun and don't care about score. And some just shoot for practice. It's always a good time.

20 mph winds made it hard to call them in.. They got out of the roost earlier than usual and I walked right up on them gobbling and couldn't get to my tree. Then they went onto the private property to some feeders and wouldn't cross back.

Sorry to hear that Daniel.

On my way home from work minister called and asked if I was coming to services tonite. Told him with wife away I had too much to do. He told me that was fine, but I likely needed some "guidance". When I asked why he did not answer, but informed me he needed squirrel and dumplings like we have back home. So guess I have guest tomorrow nite.l

I just woke up. Gotta get back on the night schedule for the next 7 days. Uggg. Supposed to go to this new rig before I hit that 7 day mark. Glad I got to tear some cats up while they were biting good. I'll be outta pocket for a while now.

Working on my first osage selfbow. Ran home during lunch to try out a draw knife I was fortunate enough to borrow. The bark came off easy, but the sap wood is kicking my *** as I am trying to go slow. I've got about 6 blisters on my hand now.

Swamp is the osage what we from the west call bodark? Has to horse apples on it. If so good luck, they used to put under houses to catch pest and when cured will stay forever.

Like I commented in your thread in the Trad section, one of these days I'm gonna build one. For what ever reason, it overwhelms me and I don't know where to start.

David-- Yes, Osage and Bois d'arc are the same wood.

Lilmisshunter,

This thread has a long standing group of friends that have known each other and spent time together, hunting, fishing, drinking, and a couple went dancing.

So, we don't know you and are just a little leery that perhaps you aren't who you say you are.

So could we put this to bed?
Perhaps you could post a pic you you with your bow and TBH in the back ground? Something that will prove you're who you say you are and not someone who is trolling us. Trust me, in this day and age it's hard to tell.
