Default From firewood to furniture.....

A friend of mine (Jamesl) on here asked me to build a pedestal for a big buck he shot last season so I had been keeping an eye out for some wood/lumber to start it with when time permitted. Finding wood with the right look and character takes time so the other day while on the river cleaning up some wind damage done to some bull mesquites I saved a limb or two that looked unique. Probably were twisted/broke long ago from the wind and healed up over time....

I knocked the bark off of it and proceeded to remove the sapwood.

Roughed it out and payed it out to make sure it'd work.

Took some burlwood that I had sanded it down to 160 grit and put epoxy in the cracks

Sanded it down to 320 grit and got it ready to assemble and seal.

Put it together and shot some lacquer on it.

Turned out real nice and will compliment his pedestal mounted buck well!
