    Just reported...Monster Gar caught Near Lake Corpus Christi...pic

    Wife just pulled this pic off the channel 3 website. Caught near Lake City, TX which is a small community near Lake Corpus Christi. Weighed 250 pounds. Full story showing tonight at 10.

        TP&W says the current state record rod-n-real is 279lbs for gator gar. I once read a few years ago it was 304 by trot-line just south of lake Livingston.

                  i saw a couple of guys in a 12 ft john boat fight and land a gar that almost stretched the length of the boat. it was towing them up and down the trinity below livingston back in the 70's. it looked to be bigger than the boat when it jumped/surfaced.

                              For years the record was 302 in the TPWD book caught on the Nueces above same lake.

                              I've had huge ones up there tear up the heaviest trotlines I could make...Guess a 300# fish can do that LOL
