You can put the flap on something like this so that it is facing up and not tossing around in the wind. One of the only changes I've made as I no longer have my antenna sticking through the top. It made it a pain in the rear to open up the camera.

They are all flaps. You can still angle the flap.

I understand that’s what you are using in the cam. If you bought the solar panel there is a pouch in the back. Depending on when you bought it, it will have a small battery inside the flap that supplements the batteries in the camera or if it’s one of the new models it won’t have a battery in it at all and you will
need to put a small 6V battery in there.

I just sent my old 2012 Covert Black Ops back and they are upgrading it to the 2018 model. They said they are expecting them in late February or early March and will send it as soon as they arrive.

Flap, flat whatever you want to call it all the covert panels are the same. You can build a ramp for it or put a branch behind the lower end...the more direct exposure the better, if you continue to have recharging issues.
