CA Police Tesla, not good for pursuits

Tesla had to drop out of the chase.... because batteries....

A Tesla electric patrol car with the Fremont, California Police was forced to back off of a pursuit after the vehicle ran low on battery in the midst of the chase.

Why would the police in California chase anyone?
There is noting against the law there anymore.

Well duh. But the Tesla probably has a much shorter range than a Gas Burner Cruiser.

Also, takes 5 minutes to fill up. It takes 75 minutes to charge a Tesla to full capacity.

Truth. Plus, you can't just fill it back up, takes some time, even with the super chargers.

Edit: TXHunter90 beat me too it

Model S Teslas have almost 400 mile range. I used to think they were dumb until I look into the specs and they blow gas burners out of the water in just about every way. 0-60 in like 2.4 seconds... oh lawd!!! They are really incredible cars. The recharge time is a big PITA though, but you know what they say about proper planning lol

I wish I could afford one... I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

We'll all be cruising around on the highway at 200mph in self driving electric cars in 25 years anyway, if that long.

I know nothing about which model does what, but this department is using 2014 teslas. Your 400 mile number is under "normal driving". How much battery juice do you burn up in a pursuit? I'd bet you can run a Gas cruiser wide open for longer than a battery car any day.

"Planning" LOL. That's a good one. I'm sure they start the shift on a full charge just like gas cars start with a full tank

It wasn't fully charged because a 2014 will no longer take a full charge like most battery operated toys.
Gov't subsidized garbage...sorry but company is a joke.
