We are building feed pens this year because the hogs have gotten real bad. We have 4x8 metal box blinds that we bow hunt out of. Would you guys build the pen big enough to include the blind or elevate the blind to shoot above the pen? If elevated how high would you you build platform? If you you have pics of your setups please post them. TIA
Missed this earlier. I'm a big old dude and I don't see any advantage to elevating a blind 6' or less to justify climbing up in them each time. I'm an easy exit and easy entrance type of guy. Purely my personal preference.

I like my pens big enough the deer don't care whether they eat inside or outside. That being said I have big pens and also the ability to feed outside and shoot if for some odd reason they won't come in...which is rare. Its all about the planning and setup....you can do both if you plan it right.

This one is inside a 35 yard x 65 yard goatwire pen...

This one is faced up against a 20 panel pen and I can feed outside the left window and shoot outside the pen as you can see in the third pic. Never have an issue with a panel blocking a shot in either blind.

Have a dozen DPs with me to work on ours.

Saw a silver f150 with TBH sticker in Sterling city at tres amigos.

New setup is coming along. Got the area mowed and need to come back and cut down a couple mesquites and trim some others. Gonna fill these tomorrow.

Nothing like a good spacious dining area at the best eating joint in town...

Fairly quiet versus what it was about 2 weeks ago. Still some gobbling.

I saw a group of about 20 mature toms together in a field just now.
