          Actually I shot her right after first light, about 7:30 am and recovered her about 5 that afternoon, about a quarter mile from the last place I saw her.

                        It is funny how we talk ourselves out of optimal positions all the time.
                        Sitting in the blind instead of the tree when you had a bad feeling about he wind.
                        Taking a shot on a spooky deer.
                        Looking before you knew you should have let her wait longer.

                        There are a thousand other decision that have to be made as well and we have to make the best decisions to optimize performance and make a clean kill. You did a great job of evaluating your performance after the shot; something more hunters need to learn to do effectively.

                        You made the best of a bad situation by keeping the search going and finding her.

                        Congratulations on sticking with it and finding her. Great story and hopefully someone can learn from it.
