    Bed Buck

    Last year while cutting through the brush to follow another buck, a small movement caught my eye. I looked through a thick low tangle of vines to see this buck spotlighted by a ray of sunlight streaming through the dense thicket canopy. I wiggled my way through a tunnel of vines toward the pocket in the brush where he was bedded down.



    He did not seem to mind my intrusion, and allowed me to get closer…



    …and closer.



    After snapping a few pictures, I backed out and left him to enjoy the rest of his morning.

    I saw him a few more times during the fall and winter. He briefly paused for the picture below one evening while chasing does during the rut. During the spring while looking for sheds, I found his right antler about 25 yards from where he had been bedded down in the pictures above.
