Default Gobbling activity?

How are the turkeys acting across the state? Getting ready for our season in San Saba county and was wondering if the birds were gobbling well or not, broken up, etc.
Gracias.

A guy hog hunting saw 15 yesterday evening. Gobbled most of the day yesterday. Not sure if they did because it was overcast and that front blew through.

My place is in Rocksprings and they are gobbling and strutting. Hens are ignoring them but they are trying to get them.

Every property I have ever hunted they move. Spring is totally different than deer season.

The last big place I hunted they moved about 3 miles.......

We see them and get pictures on our feeders game cameras all year long, but it seems like we only have gobblers during spring an early summer, after that the gobblers seem to disappear

Our ranch in the Texas hill country has some turkeys on it, our ranchhand who lives on it says he hasn’t heard em gobble once but he’s seein em. My brother swears he heard twice while pig hunting and he knows what a gobble sounds like. Only sign we saw was a dead tom feather trail while we were out there for Mardi Gras. Opening weeken is this weeken with a cold front in the 40s both morns. Should I go or wait? I feel like if I hunt all day where they been crossing they’ll eventually pass, will they come into a decoy though or come into my calling and they’ll just be quiet?

Iíll be going, but donít anticipate a textbook hunt by any stretch. I can handle the cold, I just hope the wind isnít up.

Weíre out west of Del Rio... they were out gobbling and returning calls last weekend. Actually got 3 to commit and come in... it was good to see as last year it seemed like it took a little while before they started gobbling and strutting.

They are cleaning up the corn in my hog traps and at the feeders that are being run for hogs---got a short video of 4 mature gobblers strutting around right about 15 years from my pop-up.

They were firing in Live Oak County. Not as much in Menard County but the wind has been really high and that will shut them down.
Adios,

They are going crazy right now at our ranch we have well over a hundred birds. I’m not a turkey hunter but my friends come all the way from Canada to hunt them.

We hunt near Lometa too and had not seen many during deer season. Our last trip (mid February) we saw 1 group of about 30 and another of about 7. Have not been back yet but we're keeping our fingers crossed.

The toms were gobbling some (early) last weekend at our lease. Saw lots of hens running together but I don't think they were ready quite yet. Saw some other random toms all fluffed up and strutting in the pastures on the drive home.

Seems like last year the turkey rut kicked off way earlier. It was hard to call birds in by the time the season started. Hopefully it will be better this year. I'm looking forward to it.

I went last night and hit the owl call at last light a few locations. Only 2 gobbles. Normally I would hear them in a few directions at those different spots. And all the hens are still together. I will be out opening day not matter what though. Just a little outside Fredericksburg.

In my opinion, that region typically runs a few weeks behind Karnes

With that in mind, Iíd expect your birds are still flocked up and just getting stuff figured out. Iíd expect them to really turn on here in the next week or so.

Last year, the ďnorthernĒ birds I hunted were prime time first and 2nd week of April.

I will be in Ozona chasing thunder chickens Saturday morning. I do know where they roost and which feeders they hit if they aren't gobbling though.

I went up to Menard a few weeks ago, but no gobbling. That said, by the pictures they were all over my feed pen. Last year, I feel the drought really hurt the hunting, but I am hopeful this year will really be nice. We will see. We had 14 inches of rain during the deer season, so the pastures should have a real good start, plus, I think we got an inch of rain this past week with the front.
