      Because that's what Paw Paw did

      Honestly I don't know if there's something in the sweetgum that produces more oxygen or if it's the shade or what. They will stay alive longer though with sweetgum limbs

                        crawfish dig holes in the ground and pile the dirt outside the hole. it looks like a bunch of small chimney stacks in the yard

                            probably isnt legal and now or when we did it when i was kid,,, we would drop carbide in the holes and after it started hissing we would step back about 10 feet and thump lit matches over the holes,,,,,, nothing like fire works under ground,,,,,, keep n mind i was a kid in the 60's

                                You don't wanna eat these... These aren't the pretty red ones you eat at crawfish boils, they're nasty gray ones that taste a lot like clay. I know, we boild some when we were kids even though our parents told us they would suck
