Looking for new career

A friend of mine, is looking for a new job. He has been in law enforcement for almost the same amount of time that I have been. He told me that he is burned out with police work. Does anyone know of any jobs in the Longview / Tyler area that doesn't require a degree or CDL? Also he is trying to get paid around $45,000 or more.

Has he got his instructors certification? When I retire I plan to try to teach at the academy. It's still law enforcement related I guess but without all the politics and bs.

What kind of industrial industry is in that area? Here in Houston the plants hire police officers, firefighters, EMT, and military pretty regular. Pays well too...

I meant to work as an operator at a plant, but safety doesn't seem like a bad move. Why do you say it would be a bad career for a former police officer or was that a typo?
