Nothin' wrong with givin' it a try. Practice your heeling skills, head roping is a very low percentage effort. Best way is drive them into a pen, then hang your loop over from the outside, as soon as you pull your loop tight get it's feet off the ground.

Best way to rope a hog is to catch him deep. Most times a heel loop wont hold and ropin horse back is way wilder but good possibility of crippling a good horse.

Guess I don't see the point.

Point is, roping pigs is something you run across once in a while in ranch life. A lot of ranch rodeos have pig roping as an event.
Now what you are probably wondering is why the guy in the video is roping wild pigs, on foot. The short answer is because he can. As far as I can see, the only easier way to catch wild pigs that get caught in the horse pens would be to use a nylon rope instead of a poly. You ropers know why.
