Nothin' wrong with givin' it a try. Practice your heeling skills, head roping is a very low percentage effort. Best way is drive them into a pen, then hang your loop over from the outside, as soon as you pull your loop tight get it's feet off the ground.
Best way to rope a hog is to catch him deep. Most times a heel loop wont hold and ropin horse back is way wilder but good possibility of crippling a good horse.
