    DIY Cayenne Pepper

Anyone ever tried to grow, dry, and grind your own cayenne pepper? Got some in the dehydrator now, hope to grind up tomorrow. Will see how it turns out!

I did a couple years ago and it worked great. I've got a bunch in an jar with some vinegar to try and make hot sauce. Not sure that will work out as well.

bought a dedicated grinder for this. Didn't want spicy coffee

If it works out I'm gonna try and dry some habaneros and jalapeños and make some different spicy dust!

I do it with the "chile piquin" and it works great... I just dry them in the sun which should not make a difference... Following for the results!!

I threaded mine into a long bunch with sewing thread and hung them in my sunroom then I'd just break one off and throw it in a recipe for a little extra kick.

lol my dehydrator capacity is greater than my green thumb. I'll fill it up with jerky after this though!

I love it. Got it two years ago, so haven't used it a ton. But its great to make a ton of jerky at one time. My one complaint is you do need to move the racks around to even out the drying. But that may have been from loading up the racks too much and not allowing adequate airflow.

I'm not sure. Not really a model name/number on the box. Doesn't look like they carry it anymore.
