    DIY Volume Feeder Ideas

Has anyone considered building a timed feeder using a IBC container? I need a volume feeder that I only have to fill 2-3 times per season.

    Ideas welcome.

    Protein or corn?
I would suggest a second 300 lb corn feeder (used).

One feeding morning / the other feeding evenings.
Fill both and double the time before you refill.
And chances of both not working is slim.

One problem I have ran into doing that is dealing with weevils after a while they tend to get into the corn and eventually by the time the feeder actually runs out it’s mainly dust. I do some pest control side work so I throw some phostoxin pellets in my feeder when I fill em up and due so as needed throughout the season. We made ours from old propane tanks. They seem to work well.

Good idea... probably cheaper too. My DIY tend to cost me more than I save.

Any plastic is going to be subject to varmints.....squirrels coon etc.....especially squirrels. One hole and it ruins your whole deal...

^^^^ This is probably a better option.

I've looked at converting an IBC tote a number of times and just concluded that it wasn't worth the cost/time required to make it happen.
