This will be my ninth year hunting Alabama Creek in Davey Crockett NF. I have hunted in the same area (within 100') every year. Some years I see one or two people walking through some years I see no one. I am 2.1 Miles from the nearest road. last year I saw 6 shooter bucks on opening morning and a couple of dozen does. The guy that sat up around 200 yards from me even though I told him where I was hunting saw nothing. He finally got down and moved because the deer were not moving. I personally like hunting public land but always walk a long ways from the road. I also sit all day on stand and see as many or more deer from 9 am - 2 pm as I see at dawn and dusk. I had 3 people walk down a logging road last year during the middle of the day and walked past 2 bedded bucks that were just off the road. The rut was so hot and heavy when I was there last year I could not get a buck to stop chasing long enough to get a shot. The 2 bedded bucks were too close to 13" for me to risk shooting.
