    TPWD Considering A Cormorant Season

Spoke with Clayton Wolf today after reading an piece in Lone Star Outdoor News. Very early on in the stages but TPWD is doing the research on a possible cormorant season. You would not be required to clean them, it would be a depredation season. South Carolina recently had one in February and over 1,000 hunters participated and over 12,000 birds were killed on two reservoirs. What are your thoughts? Many of us kill hogs and varmints and let them lay. This would pretty much be the same situation. Bet they taste 10x worse than a merganser.

    Thoughts?

To my knowledge they're not indigenous to the U.S. and are a fish killing machine.

I've never understood why they have any protection at all!

I'd be happy to kill them all and let the buzzards feast on there dead rotting corpse.

            Wonder what they taste like?

funny part is most the lakes up here that have thousands of them are the lakes you can't hunt.

That isn't gonna happen. I've seen them die just fine from steel shot. Buddy's dad has a depredation permit

Hate them. They will actually gorge themselves and regurgitate in order to go back and eat more. That's why it can be good fishing under a tree they have been roosted on. They have been the subject of much hate of the catfish farmer in states like Georgia who has fought for years to so something to try and control them.
Kill them all, they are good for nothing.

That will surely help to pass the slow times in the blind.

one of my friends was a manager at a usfws hatchery, and between comorants and pelicans they would almost clean him out.

                              so yes lets kill them
