Friday night I managed to fall out of the bed of a Polaris spotlighting pigs. We were creeping slow and sober. I managed to fracture the plateau of my tibia. The ER in Hondo was great but there wasn’t much they could do besides pain shots and a splint.
I’ll see an ortho this week and get a good prognosis.

Be careful out there. **** happens even when you are doing everything right. The safest most normal things can creep up and bite you.

I would challenge one thing though - standing up in the bed of a Polaris while it is moving at night is not “Doing everything right.”

We were putting up a tripod on our lease. When I climbed up the 12 ft ladder to trim some shooting lanes the stand tilted and dumped me. Fell on some big dead limbs on my side broke a couple ribs and bruised my hip and thigh really bad. Looked and felt like I fell under a moving 18 wheeler. Finally had to have that hip replaced. I’m just about back to normal now. I only hunt low level box blinds now. Be careful guys.

My nighttime pig hunting story is pretty similar but with booze and a driver deciding to fishtail. Ended up with shattered ankle and broken foot
