I started getting pictures of this buck early in the summer. He seemed like a nice young deer while in velvet but when the velvet came off, he appeared to be mature and a target deer.
Tonight I decided to sit in a tree stand that sits on a pinch point between bedding areas and ag fields. I got in at 4:00 and it steadily rained all evening. I felt good the deer would start moving as the rain lightened up. At 6:40 I was soaking wet and miserably cold thinking this was not worth it! But then I saw a deer coming in and it was huge. Looked like a horse. He gave me a 20 yard broadside shot and I punched his heart. He ran about 40 yards and was done. This buck was easily 230-250 pounds. Possibly more. I am very lucky to have gotten this tank this evening.
Haven't put a tape on him yet but I will tomorrow and let y'all know what he scored.
