wow! I have always wanted to try out a thermal. Aren't there two different kinds(or settings)? I have seen videos with the animals growing red(thermal i'm assuming) and some where the animal is just able to be seen. Is the different night vision and thermal?

sorry for my ignorance on the subject

From my research there are different color images you can see with thermal: white hot and black hot. Some are starting to have color images

The difference you are talking about is NV and Thermal. They are 2 different ballgames and thermal is overall the best. NV works best on a full moon

We run several thermals but on this hunt we were using a Reap-ir and a Mark III 4.5x x 60mm. Both made by Trijicon

thanks

Trijicon makes some great scopes and so does Pulsar and Armasight. I dont own either one of those and have never looked through either one. just what research I have done. Whatever you do make sure you get a 640x480 to start

I just bought a REAP IR and can't wait to use it. I figured I would buy a good one right off the bat.

A lot of friends told me and I agree as I get older....buy the best first off the bat and don't buy a cheap one and then upgrade down the road.
